Appraiser Maintenance

Note: To add, edit or delete (make "Inactive") an appraiser, you must have authority (Claim Appraisal group). Also, you can add, edit and delete claim appraisers by using the Appraiser Maintenance button on the Appraisal screens (both Auto and Property).

This function allows you to globally add claim appraisers in Diamond. Appraisers entered here can be used for selection when submitting a Loss Notice on a vehicle or property. After choosing the Vehicle / Property tab, you may then click the Appraisal button to return the Claim Appraisal Detail screen. From there, you can select the Appraiser Maintenance button and choose the appraiser on the Claim Appraiser List screen.

Add a Claim Appraiser

There are two sections on the Claim Appraiser List screen. The upper section is used to record all  name / address information for an appraiser. The lower section, Counties, allows an appraiser to either be assigned to all counties / states a company writes business in or selectively assign counties to an appraiser. To enable the County functionality, the system setting, "Filter Appraisers By County" in the Claims / Appraisal folder must be set to "1" (Enable). It also contains Zip Codes which you can selectively add.

If you are using the "Filter Appraisers By County," the Claims System (when adding a new appraisal) uses the county from the claim loss location to filter the appraisers that you can select from. It includes the ones for that county and the ones that are available for all counties. If the county field is blank or a match is not found, all appraisers are available for selection. The city name behind the appraiser is also included so that if there are multiple appraisers with the same name (like Jones and Company for many different cities), you will know which one you are selecting without having to actually select them and look at the details.

To add a claim appraiser:

  1. Choose the Claims / Appraiser Maintenance selection from the Diamond Administration Tree View.

  2. When the Claim Appraiser List screen displays, select Add.

  3. Select the Name link. When the Edit Name screen displays, enter all name / phone numbers / address information for the appraiser.

  4. After entries and selections have been made, select Save. The appraiser is added and displayed on the Claim Appraiser List screen.

  5. On the Claim Appraiser List screen, click in the Active field to place a check mark indicating the appraiser is "Active," available for assignment.

In the lower part of the Claim Appraiser List screen, the Use All Counties field defaults with a check; indicates appraiser will be assigned to all counties. The Filter Appraisers by County," (Claims / Appraiser folder) must be set to "True." Removing the check allows you to selectively assign the appraiser counties.

To selectively assign counties to an appraiser:

Also in the lower part of the screen, the Zip Code Selection allows a company to associate an appraiser by Zip Code. Ensure the "Use All Counties" field has a check in it, and the "Filter Appraisers by Zip" (Claims / Appraisals folder) is et to "True). Enabling the Zip Codes button let's you add all zip codes associated with the appraiser.

When finished, click Save to retain your entries and selections. The appraiser is added to the list view on the Claim Appraiser List screen.

To exit the  screen, click Close.

Edit an Appraiser

To edit a claim appraiser:

  1. Highlight the appraiser in the list view.

  2. Choose Edit or double click the appraiser.

  3. When the Claim Appraiser List screen returns, make any changes necessary.

  4. Click Save to retain the changes.

To delete an appraiser:

Note: When deleting an appraiser, the appraiser is not removed from the system entirely. Rather, the appraiser's status becomes "Inactive" and the appraiser can be viewed by selecting the Inactive radio button at the bottom of the Claim Appraiser List screen. To make the appraiser "Active," simply edit the appraiser and place a check mark in the Active field.
