Note: You must have the authority,"Configurable Authority Setup," (Configurable Authority group) to access the Configurable Authority menu item.
Configurable authorities are used to give access to users for viewing specific on-line reports when selecting the On-Line Reports button from the Diamond Main Menu. A user cannot view an on-line report unless they have one (1) of the authorities needed to view that report. Additionally, an on-line report is not available in Diamond unless it has at least one (1) associated authority.
To access Configurable Authority:
From the Company Configuration Tool Tree View, select Configurable Options / Configurable Authority.
This returns the Configurable Authority Setup screen. The screen contains a Grid View that allows you to see "Active," "Inactive" or "All" configurable authorities.
Note: You must have the authority,"Add Configurable Authority," to perform this function.
From the toolbar on the top of the Configurable Authority Setup screen:
Click Add.
The New Configurable Authority screen displays. Fields for entry and selection include:
Description: Enter the name of the authority (e.g., Billing, Claims, General Management or Policy Processing).
Authority Group: Select from the combo box the authority group the new authority is being added to. (Note: Currently, only Online Reports is available in the Diamond Base System.)
Use Amount: This determines if an amount should be captured when the authority is assigned to a user. This field exists in the regular authority as well.
Active: Select the field to place a check mark in it; this indicates the authority is active. To make it "Inactive" (not available for use), click in the field and remove the check mark.
Select Save. When the Configurable Authority Setup screen returns, the configurable authority is added to the Grid View. Repeat the procedure for any other configurable authorities you wish to add.
Because many companies have different claim personnel handling different coverage types (i.e., property damage, bodily injury, home property / liability, etc.), a set of configurable authorities exist specifically related to Claims Transactions. The configurable authorities can be associated with one (1) or more coverage and / or sub-coverage codes by clicking on the Coverages button that will display on the toolbar. The system will then use these authorities in place of the traditional transaction authority provided that the associated feature has the matching coverage code and / or sub-coverage code.
This means that these new configurable authorities must be given to users. If not, they will not be able to process claim features that meet the criteria.
Note: Users must have "Edit Configurable Authority" to make any changes to a configurable authority.
To edit a configurable authority:
Highlight the authority you want to edit in the Grid View and click Edit from the Configurable Authority Setup screen.
When the Edit Configurable Authority screen displays, make any changes such as correct a spelling, or place a check mark in the amount field.
Select Save. This places the information that changed in the Grid View on the Configurable Authority Setup screen.
Note: Users must have "Delete Configurable Authority" to make a configurable authority "Inactive."
Highlight the authority you want to delete (or make "Inactive") in the Grid View and click Edit.
When the Configurable Authority Setup screen returns the authority is removed on the Grid View.
To view all "Inactive" configurable authorities, click the Inactive radio button at the bottom of the screen.
If you have made a configurable authority "Inactive," and you want to make it "Active" again:
Select the Inactive radio button at the bottom of the Configurable Authority Setup screen.
Highlight the authority you want to re-activate in the Grid View and click Edit.
When the Configurable Authority Setup screen returns, the authority is added to the Grid View of "Active" authorities.
At the bottom of the Configurable Authority Setup screen, there are three (3) radio buttons:
All: When selected, displays all authorities including those that are "Active" and "Inactive."
Active Displays only those authorities that are "Active" in Diamond. This is the default when first accessing the screen.
Inactive: Displays only those authorities that are "Inactive" in Diamond.
