User Configurable Rating consists of three (3) main components:
Configurable Book Editor: This is used to create Rate Books.
Rate Book: These are XML files that contain all of the rating data and code needed to rate a Diamond policy. The Rating Engine is what gets called from Diamond to interpret the Rate Book and rate a Diamond policy.
Rating Engine: This accepts the policy object and determines the appropriate Rate Book to load. Once the Rating Engine has the policy object and the Rate Book XML loaded, it starts interpreting the Rate Book. The Rate Book has access to any policy data needed for rating from the policy object and any rating factors from the Rate Book tables. Once the Engine finishes rating, it passes the updated policy object back to Diamond where all changes are saved back to the databases.
