Non-Sufficient Funds Charge

Note: You must have the authority, "Non-Sufficient Funds," (Billing group) to process this cash adjustment.

This type of manual adjustment can be made as a charge to an NSF check.

To apply this adjustment:

  1. Access the policy, and click Billing from the Quick Links Tree View.

  2. Choose Non-Sufficient Funds from the Adjustment combo box.

  3. The default NSF value displays in the Amount field; enter a dollar amount if different.

  4. Click Accept.

  5. The Statement Display screen returns. The payment is automatically reversed, and a statement line is added.

The Statement Display screen displays with a statement line added showing the adjustment and the balance now due. In accounts receivable, the Current Miscellaneous Charge Outstanding field is updated.

Note: A Non-Sufficient Funds Charge can also be applied automatically when a Non-Sufficient Funds adjustment is made. By placing a dollar amount in a pay plan's NSF Charge Amount field, once an NSF adjustment is made, the system automatically applies that dollar amount and displays it as the last line on the Billing Activity Display spreadsheet.
