Note: You must have authority to change a payor (Bill To) on a policy or an Account Bill group of policies. Additionally, a system setting, "Disallow Bill To Changes Except On Pending New Bus And Renewals," has been added in the Policy folder in the Diamond System Editor. If this setting is set to "False" (Disable), then bill to changes are still allowed on Endorsements as usual. If the bill to is "Mortgagee," then the user is only able to make a bill to change through a policy transaction since they will need to unlink the AI as the bill to first. If this is set to "True" (Enable), then the bill to combo on policy control is disabled on Endorsements and bill to changes are only allowed to be processed through the Change Payor billing transaction. Users will be able to do the billing transaction Payor Change, but they will still need to do a policy Endorsement to unlink an additional interest from the bill to.
Change Payor is a billing transaction that allows you to change the payor (or Bill To) on a single policy or on Account Bill policies. Please note that if a policy currently has a "Bill To" of "Account," the policy needs to be unlinked from the account BEFORE the payor change transaction can be done. When unlinking a policy, a Bill To Change screen displays and the user can select a new "Bill To."
Access the policy, and click Billing from the Quick Links Tree View.
Click the Transaction tab at the bottom of the screen.
On the Billing Transaction screen, select Bill To Change from the combo box.
When the Bill To Change screen displays, the default Billed To is the original person or entity assigned.
Select a new payor from the Bill To combo box. (Note: If "Agent is selected and Accept is clicked, a validation screen is displayed. Click Return.)
If "Other" is chosen, click Accept.
Enter all name / address information on the Change Bill To screen. Select Accept to finish.
The payor is changed and a validation screen is displayed. Click Return.
Once the transaction is issued, the "Bill To" is updated on the policy and a history of the change is displayed on the Account History tab in Billing.
