Note: If your company is operating in a "multi - company" environment, please note that users do not need to have the authorities given at each company, only one. Authorities apply to the entire system regardless of the company associated with the policy and / or claim.
In Diamond, authority groups are set up and presented in Company Configuration Tool: Company / Organization tab. There, for each type of group, all available authorities are presented, and you have a choice to set default granted authority rights for each group. Further definition of what authority an individual has, are then defined at the user level in Diamond Administration: Users & Workflow Queues - Users.
Let's say that an authority group, such as an agency user, has all rights established as the default for an agency group when authority is assigned to a user; however, some of the billing functions fall within the established rights of that person. If the agency user should not be able to perform any or all of the billing functions, then the granted authority can be removed for that person. Likewise, if an agency user should be granted more authority, this may also be done as well.

If the user has this authority and the system setting contains a numeric value other than zero (0), the system rewrites the policy effective on the payment date and the term is adjusted according to the amount of money paid. Additionally (for no equity term policies), if a policy is canceled for non pay and the system setting set is to something other than the user defined number of days, the system automatically does a reinstatement with a lapse and creates a pro rata policy that extends from the payment date to the end of the current term. |

The purpose of the Adjustment Transaction is to allow users to enter a change amount to the financials without creating a check and without modifying the End of Period numbers (month to date, year to date and inception to date). This allows the clients to pull monthly data from an existing system and from Diamond to get a "Total" amount and not have duplicate amounts for the payments / recoveries that were re-entered into Diamond. When a user is given this authority, they are allowed to access the Underwriter Review button on the Policy Detail toolbar. This returns an Underwriter Review screen with two (2) options: Approve and Close. "Approve" allows the underwriter to Approve and also close the image of a policy. (Images cannot be "Pending.") If a user does not have this authority, they may still use the Underwriter Review button to access the Underwriter Review screen for inquiry purposes only. A user can view the underwriter who approved the image of the policy along with the date. Close is the only option this user has. |
